Silly String Spelling

I love to think of new ways for the kids to practice their weekly spelling words... this week we used string to form each letter.Because children learn in different ways, I believe that it is important to incorporate as many techniques as possible so that everyone can be successful.

Regardless for my reasons for using the string, the kids were thrilled!

On Friday we discovered that the silly string spelling was actually quite effective - we had a record high 16 perfect scores on the spelling test this week! Whatever it takes!

Reader's Theatre

We rehearsed and performed "Fractured Fairy Tales and Fables" in our Reader's Theatre. The kids LOVE it when we involve movement and drama into our reading routine. Small groups of students worked together to organize their plays. They assigned parts (one group even held mini-auditions!), rehearsed together, made their props, and performed for their classmates.

Tackle the TAKS!

We've worked hard all year and the kids are ready to tackle the Reading TAKS test. All they needed was a few words of affirmation from their peers!
We made signs for each of our classmates, encouraging them to do their best on the test. I loved watching the kids encourage one another!

Positive thinking is a powerful tool for success!
