Safety Officer Visit

We heard from special guests to help our students walk and ride to school safely. An officer from the CISD police department and our school crossing guard spoke to the kids about observing path rules, being aware of traffic, and staying away from strangers.

They were an attentive audience and did a great job listening.

We hope that our kids not only travel more safely to school, but also recognize the safety officer as trusted adults in our community!

Huggles' Breakfast

This week we read a story together called Huggles' Breakfast. Huggles is a silly creature who eats everything - including a telephone! The kids loved working with such a funny text. We practiced naming the parts of a book (cover, spine, title page, dedication page, back cover) and reading the words. At the end of the week, we worked in groups to sequence the text and illustrate the story.

Students matched their text with an example to double check the order of the story. hard work!

The kids were so proud of themselves! (I was too!)

First Day of School!

Welcome to K5!

We are going to have a great year! Here's our group:

Our first day went so well! I bet your kids are exhausted (I know I am!) because of all the fun we've had. We're learning the rules and procedures of school and getting to know each other.

We sorted math manipulatives by color (and played with them a little, too!)

I'm so excited to work with your students this year. They are full of life and excitement to learn. What wonderful traits! Follow our blog to see photos of our classroom activities and lessons.
