We had two special guests at Galatas School today - Vegas and Tyde! Our second grade teacher, Mrs. Hughes, brought her horses to school today to visit us. We listened carefully as Mrs. Hughes explained how to feed, groom, and care for the horses.
Mrs. Hughes even showed us how to clean the Tyde's hooves!
After Mrs. Hughes shared about how to take care of Vegas and Tyde, we were able to pet them! These are our classmates with Vegas:
Our Kindergarten rodeo was an enormous success and all of the cowboy and cowgirls had a boot scootin' good time! Please enjoy some of the photos I took during the rodeo:
We pledged to the American and Texas flags, just like they do in real rodeos.
We performed two songs and the ever-popular Chicken Dance!
The classes competed in three events: the stick horse relay race, the barrel race, and the chuck wagon race.
My sweet kindergarten class has turned into cowboy and cowgirl bandits! Beware of these dangerous outlaws and report sightings to Sheriff Lindsay at Galatas School!
Galatas kindergarteners took a quick field trip to visit a mobile dairy farm. We walked from our school to the church next door to see a real live farmer and his dairy cow! The kids were convinced we walked a really long way and one student assured me, "Don't worry Miss Bates. We didn't lose Galatas School. I see it right there!"
The kids watched excitedly as Farmer Larry introduced us to his dairy cow, Missy. He explained the important job that farmers do and why dairy products are so important to keeping our bodies healthy. He explained about how a cow is milked and he gave a live demonstration. We were amazed!
Hello! My name is Miss Bates and I teach Kindergarten at Galatas Elementary School in The Woodlands, Texas. I graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU) and I am a proud Horned Frog fan! I am also the adoptive mother of my 3 year old son, Cooper. We enjoy playing outside, baking cookies, and riding our bikes.
