A Visit From Nurse Bates!

My mom, who is a registered nurse here in The Woodlands, came to visit with our classes about her job and how she helps people in our community. We were so eager to meet her and so impressed that she and I have the same last name! (I think the kids were also baffled that I, a grown-up teacher, had a MOM!)

Nurse Bates showed us some of the tools she uses to take care of people who are sick and she talked about how she became a nurse. The students were particularly interested in her stethescope and safety scissors! She did a fantastic job teaching us about ways to stay healthy, including washing our hands, eating healthy foods, and exercising.
One lucky volunteer even got to listen to a heartbeat like a real nurse!

Thank you, Nurse Bates, for a wonderful visit to our classroom!
